Emergency Assistance

The largest program offered by Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County is Emergency Assistance.  This program combines material and financial assistance with advocacy efforts for people in need of food, shelter, clothing, transportation, utility assistance, homeless outreach and prescription assistance.  In 2009, Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County offered the following types of Emergency Assistance Services:

            Food Assistance - 113 people
Utility Payments and rental assistance - 512 households

          Clothing and personal/household items - 718 people

Essential Prescription Medication and Medical Supplies - 124 people
          Holiday assistance - 600 people
Advocacy and referral services - 163 households

Emergency Assistance extends help and hope in times of crisis and need to families and children in cooperation with other social service agencies, churches, food pantries and kitchens.

In collaboration with mother of Sorrosw Church, Catholic Charities operates a Distribution Site on Tuesdays from 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm and Thursdays from 9:30 am - 12:00 pm.

Donations of new and gently used clothing, underclothing and outerwear, shoes, boots, towels and linens, small appliances, cookware and eating utensils, toiletries, toys, books, and other miscellaneous household items are welcome. In order to uphold the dignity of those in need, please make sure all clothing is clean and household items are in working order.  Volunteer opportunities are also available at the site.

Individuals and families in need of these items may visit the Distribution Site monthly.
